PCIA Statement on FCC reauthorization bill, DIGIT Act

PCIA – The Wireless Infrastructure Association issued the following statement from President and CEO Jonathan Adelstein regarding today’s decision by the Senate Commerce Committee to reauthorize the Federal Communications Commission and the Committee’s vote in favor of the “Developing Innovation and Growing the Internet of Things (DIGIT) Act.”

“We commend Chairman Thune and Ranking Member Nelson on winning bipartisan committee approval for the FCC reauthorization bill. The reauthorization process gives both the FCC and Congress the opportunity to examine and, if necessary, modify the FCC’s authority.”

“We also commend Sens. Fischer, Booker, Ayotte, and Schatz for their leadership on the DIGIT Act. This is a positive step forward in ensuring that government and industry are working together as we move toward a truly connected future thanks to the Internet of Things. Wireless infrastructure will play a critical role in the development and adoption of more connected machines and devices. We need to build and deploy all manner of wireless infrastructure in order to deliver an integrated ecosystem to support the Internet of Things.”
