WIA Commends Senate Commerce Committee for Work on Broadband Deployment

The Wireless Infrastructure Association (WIA) issued the following statement from President and CEO Jonathan Adelstein regarding the Senate Commerce Committee’s May 2 hearing titled “Investing in America’s Broadband Infrastructure: Exploring Ways to Reduce Barriers to Deployment.”

“WIA commends Chairman Thune, Ranking Member Nelson, and the rest of the Commerce Committee for their continued focus on many of the issues facing the widespread deployment of broadband infrastructure in communities around the country. The Committee’s work on reducing the barriers to deploying wireless infrastructure will help ensure that the U.S. remains the global leader when it comes to mobile network innovation and deployment. Improving access to federal lands for wireless communications facilities and streamlining the permitting processes for wireless infrastructure are key to creating a more predictable business environment for broadband infrastructure investment.  One way to encourage investment in wireless broadband networks is for the Senate to pass the MOBILE NOW Act. MOBILE NOW is an important step toward removing unreasonable barriers to wireless broadband investment and deployment.”
