WIA’s HetNet Expo Brings Wireless Leaders to Houston for Discussion of 5G, IoT, and Smart Cities

Event to focus on infrastructure needed for  next-generation networks

Alexandria, VA – The Wireless Infrastructure Association (WIA) today announced highlights for its annual HetNet Expo, Oct. 25-26 at the Royal Sonesta Galleria in Houston.

The event brings together wireless industry professionals who are developing the next generation of advanced heterogeneous networks, a combination of  small cell technologies, distributed antenna systems (DAS), and Wi-Fi infrastructure working together with towers to enable wireless broadband coverage and capacity.

This year’s event will focus on the critical role mobile networks play in supporting the Internet of Things, smart cities and the rollout of 5G.

“The U.S. has led the way in the global information revolution,” said Jonathan Adelstein, President and CEO of WIA. “The HetNet enables powerful access to data for businesses and consumers – from machine to machine connectivity to mobile health to innovative applications. Our industry pioneers this revolution, and HetNet Expo presents the perfect setting to explore opportunities and challenges associated with building next-generation mobile networks. “

HetNet Expo kicks off with an exclusive one-on-one conversation between WIA’s Adelstein and Jay Brown, CEO of Crown Castle Inc., the nation’s largest provider of shared wireless infrastructure. Brown will discuss his company’s current strategy with regards to the deployment of wireless infrastructure and answer questions about the industry and its future.

Also on tap for this year’s HetNet Expo are Keynote Speeches from Leandre Johns, General Manager, External Affairs for Uber; and Morgan Kurk, Chief Technology Officer of CommScope, which works with companies around the world to design, build and manage wired and wireless networks.
