Model Ordinance for Siting of Wireless Facilities
WIA has developed this model ordinance to assist municipal authorities with the challenge of siting wireless communications facilities. This ordinance, which is completely free and customizable, provides an even-handed approach for the review of applications, balancing infrastructure needs with community concerns. The ordinance encourages and streamlines collocations on existing facilities, while granting municipalities access to the critical information they need to make informed decisions about new wireless facilities. With this ordinance as a tool, municipalities can adopt code that preserves local interests while ensuring their jurisdiction will be a key player in the wireless future.
