WIA Foundation Raises Over $400,000 for Wireless Workforce Development at WIA Awards

The second annual WIA Awards, hosted by the WIA Foundation, generated over $400,000 for wireless workforce education and training initiatives. The event honored champions of the wireless workforce who have made major contributions to develop the workforce needed to build America’s 5G networks:

WIA Board Meets with All Five FCC Commissioners
In conjunction with the meeting of WIA’s Board of Directors, WIA and its board members met with all five FCC Commissioners. Several issues were discussed including streamlining siting rules to promote wireless infrastructure deployments and how to ensure U.S. leadership in 5G.

Comments Deadlines Extended for WIA Petitions for Declaratory Ruling and Rulemaking
In August, WIA filed two petitions with the Commission to clarify its rules interpreting Section 6409(a) of the Middle Class Tax Relief and Job Creation Act. The FCC extended the Comment deadline to Oct. 29 and Reply Comments to Nov. 13 after local government interests and utility interests filed requests for extension of time. WIA’s declaratory ruling petition can be found here and request for rulemaking can be found here.

Multiple Tenant Environments Reply Comments
WIA filed Reply Comments regarding the FCC’s proceeding on improving competitive broadband access to Multiple Tenant Environments (MTEs). For more information on MTEs, please see this blog post by WIA Legal Intern Stephanie Neville.
