Sanjay Udani, Verizon

Sanjay Udani is a technologist who serves as Vice President for Policy at Verizon, where he develops and coordinates Verizon’s policy positions on emerging services and technologies including 5G, cybersecurity, privacy, spectrum, and supply chain security. He also provides technical expertise to help internal and external stakeholders–including Members of Congress, various government agencies, senior leaders at Verizon, and Verizon’s Board of Directors–better understand the technology that underlies ongoing policy debates and discussions. Sanjay frequently represents Verizon in meetings with U.S. and foreign government officials, and frequently speaks at major industry events. Sanjay is also on the Board of Directors of ATIS, the Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions.

Prior to joining Verizon’s public policy team, Sanjay was a lead network architect for Verizon’s Fios consumer broadband service. He has been awarded 12 U.S. patents for his work in network resource management, advertising, and privacy, and is a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). Sanjay earned his Ph.D. in Computer Information Science at the University of Pennsylvania, where he later served as an Adjunct Associate Professor, teaching graduate courses at the Engineering school for 13 years. He has been a guest lecturer for courses at Georgetown and George Mason universities, as well as the National Defense University. His prior experience includes designing video processors for Intel and Sanjay also holds a management degree from the Wharton School of Business.
