WIA Pushes Streamlined Compound Expansion Over Finish Line
The FCC voted 3-2 to promote wireless infrastructure deployment through streamlining expansion of existing tower compounds. WIA and our members have advocated for these reforms since 2017 with the FCC. The rules enable quicker collocations and will enable more robust emergency communications to ensure public safety and will allow the U.S. to remain competitive in the race to 5G.

WIA praises the FCC’s decision to distribute up to $9 billion in connectivity funds to rural America through the Universal Service Fund. These funds ensure that Americans in rural areas can enjoy the same benefits from the digital economy as residents and employees of urban areas.
