Inside Towers – Wireless capital expenditures for 3Q25 among U.S. mobile network operators were over $7.9 billion, according to Inside Towers Intelligence. That figure was up eight percent from 2Q25, and nine percent over nearly $7.3 billion in 3Q24. Year to date, MNOs have collectively spent $22.5 billion, down from $22.7 billion spent in the same period in 2024. Still, MNOs have maintained or raised their full-year capex guidance based on recent developments and are projecting full year guidance of $33.7 billion. Fierce Network – As Nokia plans to invest $4 billion in AI-related manufacturing and R&D in the United States, the firm’s new chief technology and AI officer Pallavi Mahajan said at its capital markets day last week that a new wave of AI disruption is coming in the form of physical AI. Read More

The Fast Mode – U.S. Senators Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.) and Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) introduced the bipartisan Broadband and Telecommunications RAIL Act that would streamline the process to deploy telecommunications and broadband equipment in public and railroad rights-of-way. Read More

Fierce Network – States have been itching to start building for the Broadband Equity, Access and Deployment (BEAD) program, and it looks like the federal government is about to grant their wish. NTIA announced it approved the final proposals for 18 states and territories and that one state – Louisiana – now officially has access to its BEAD allocation. Read More

Inside Towers – With a 3-0 vote, the FCC approved a Notice of Proposed Rule Making as a step toward eventual auction of a portion of the upper C-band (3.98-4.2 GHz) for wireless use. A provision in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act requires the agency to auction at least 100 megahertz no later than July 2027. Read More
