Chairwoman Rosenworcel Appoints WIA’s CTO Dr. Rikin Thakker to the FCC’s Technological Advisory Council

ARLINGTON, Va. – WIA is pleased to announce Chairwoman Rosenworcel’s appointment of Chief Technology Officer Dr. Rikin Thakker to the FCC’s Technological Advisory Council (TAC), where he will work alongside other leading technology experts to aid the Commission in identifying areas of innovation and developing informed technology policies.

“I am honored by the opportunity to serve the FCC as a member of TAC,” said Dr. Thakker. “Ensuring the U.S. has up-to-date technology policies that encourage innovation and resiliency in advancing wireless networks is crucial for our future economic competitiveness. I look forward to supporting Chairwoman Rosenworcel and the Commission as they maintain U.S. leadership in network innovation.”

As WIA’s CTO, Dr. Thakker leads activities related to emerging technologies, advising members on 5G strategies, spectrum allocation and broadband infrastructure deployment strategies, and planning for future technology trends, including 6G. He has previously served on the FCC’s Broadband Deployment Advisory Committee and co-chaired the Job Skills and Training Opportunity Working Group. He will bring to TAC over twenty years of experience in the field of cellular wireless communications.

TAC is comprised of a diverse group of leading experts and is organized under the authority of the Federal Advisory Committee Act.
