Sep 13, 2018 FCC Takes Action as Hurricane Florence Approaches East Coast (September 13, 2018) The Federal Communications Commission is preparing for Hurricane Florence, which is expected to make landfall in the next 24 hours, by activating its Disaster Information Reporting System (DIRS) and deploying FCC staff to areas in the path of the storm to survey radiofrequency spectrum in critical areas of South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia. The agency’s Operations Center is open 24 hours a day, and it will monitor outages and support restoration and recovery efforts as the storm progresses.
