Aug 1, 2025 Jacob K. Javits Convention Center Outfitted With Trailblazing Communications Network Case Study: Convention Center The Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City encountered significant wireless communications challenges due to the combination of its concrete superstructure and the prevalence of Low-Emissivity (Low-E) glass. These architectural elements, designed to ensure structural integrity and enhance energy efficiency, unintentionally impede wireless signal penetration. The center needed a solution that would address these obstacles and support its peak traffic of over 100,000 people while maintaining the architectural aesthetics and charm of the building. During the center’s 2021 expansion project, American Tower expanded the existing DAS to cover the center’s 1.2 million square feet of new event space, 200,000 square feet of new meeting space, and a truck marshaling area that accommodates 40 queueing trucks.
