PCIA Commends E-911 Rules Update

January 29, 2015 / Alexandria, VA – Jonathan Adelstein, the President and CEO of PCIA – The Wireless Infrastructure Association, issued the following statement in response to today’s action by the Federal Communications Commission’s to update its Enhanced 911 Rules:

“PCIA joins our public safety partners in commending the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for adopting a 9-1-1 Location Accuracy Report and Order that will help save lives and property around the country. Today, the FCC took action to strengthen first responder services by setting forth achievable goals to deliver vital location information more quickly and more accurately, especially for indoor calls. Some 44 percent of American households are ‘wireless only’ – and the number is increasing each year. Today’s action takes an important step toward improving 9-1-1 location accuracy by leveraging existing location technologies, encouraging the development of new technologies in the ‘test bed,’ and utilizing live call data to determine the efficacy of these technologies.”
