Time Warner Cable and Boingo Provide Expanded Customer Wi-Fi Access in the U.S.

NEW YORK and LOS ANGELES – June 3, 2014 – Time Warner Cable (TWC) and Boingo Wireless have launched bilateral roaming access for their customers, giving TWC Internet customers access to more than 100 premium Boingo locations, including 23 of the highest trafficked airports in the U.S., while Boingo customers gain access to over 35,000 TWC WiFi® Hotspots in cities such as New York, Los Angeles, Austin and Charlotte.
The two companies – both members of the Wireless Broadband Alliance participating in the Next Generation Hotspot trials – also will complete a Passpoint-enabled integration later this year so customers can connect seamlessly and securely with their Passpoint-certified devices and account credentials.

Boingo Wireless Wi-Fi Access

Boingo customers can now access nearly 35,000 TWC WiFi Hotspots in major cities across the United States using their existing account, in addition to the more than 1,000,000 hotspots from over 140 global network partners. Boingo Unlimited subscribers – who receive unlimited Wi-Fi access across North and South America – can take advantage of the Time Warner Cable hotspots in Los Angeles, New York City, Austin, Kansas City, Charlotte, Myrtle Beach and Hawaii.

“Our agreement with Time Warner Cable greatly enhances our network of partner hotspots in the U.S., providing added value for our Boingo Unlimited and Boingo Mobile customers. We’re thrilled to extend access to the TWC WiFi Hotspots to our customers in cities from coast to coast,” Nick Hulse, president of Boingo Wireless.

Boingo customers must use the Boingo Wi-Finder app to connect to Time Warner Cable hotspots, and monthly subscribers will be able to use a Passpoint profile to enable automatic, secure access once the Passpoint integration is complete later this year.

TWC WiFi Network Expansion

TWC Internet customers now can enjoy free Wi-Fi in in more than 20 major U.S. airports, several New York City subway stations and popular locations ranging from malls to restaurants as the result of the Boingo partnership. The partnership expands TWC’s network to more than 100 new locations using the Boingo Hotspot network name (SSID).

“Free Wi-Fi adds tremendous value to our Internet service. Now, our customers can stay connected when they travel with free access to Boingo Hotspots in major airports and other popular locations around the country,” said Rob Cerbone, VP of Mobile Products for Time Warner Cable.
Among the 100+ Boingo Hotspot locations now available free to qualified TWC Internet customers are:

• 23 airports including La Guardia, JFK and Newark in New York, Chicago O’Hare International, Raleigh-Durham International, Dallas Love Field, Austin Bergstrom, Denver International, Memphis International and Nashville International

• 36 NYC subway station platforms and several Washington State Ferries

• Popular venues such as Soldier Field in Chicago and various shopping centers and restaurants

To access, TWC customers will select “Boingo Hotspot” from the list of available networks, and from the Boingo sign-in page, select Time Warner Cable from a list of Internet Service Providers. They then will log-in using their TWC ID and password or their Time Warner Cable email and password.

The Boingo Hotspots are included on the TWC WiFi coverage map at twc.com/wificoverage and soon will be added to the TWC WiFi Finder app.
Time Warner Cable’s WiFi network is available free to customers with Standard Internet or above and to all Business Class Internet customers. The network currently offers over 35,000 TWC WiFi® Hotspots with significant coverage in Southern California, New York City, Kansas City, Charlotte, Myrtle Beach, Austin and Hawaii. TWC Internet customers also have free access to more than 250,000 hotspots in major cities across the U.S. through the Cable WiFi® network.
