WIA Expands Frequency Coordination Operations with Addition of Microwave Frequency Coordination Services

Alexandria, VA – Feb. 14, 2017 –  The Wireless Infrastructure Association (WIA), which currently provides frequency coordination services to private and public entities, has added microwave frequency coordination to its comprehensive list of frequency coordination services.

The new license management and frequency protection and monitoring services include:

  • Point-To-Point Microwave coordination and Part 101 coordination for Multiple Address Systems along with associated Frequency Protection and Monitoring;
  • FAA Studies/FCC Antenna Structure Registration;
  • Assignments and Transfers of FCC licenses; and
  • E-Band Application and Processing.

WIA has partnered with Micronet Communications Inc., which has provided telecommunications planning services to government and commercial customers since 1983, to deliver the new microwave frequency coordination services. Micronet has developed a broad array of engineering tools and databases in multiple frequency bands.

“Microwave transmission plays a vital part in the future of wireless communications,” said Jonathan Adelstein, CEO and President of WIA. “The addition of microwave frequency coordination instantly expands WIA Frequency Coordination’s service offerings so we can deliver more comprehensive service to our customers as spectrum managers. We look forward to providing our existing customers with these valuable services and bringing new customers on board.”

Since the creation of coordination committees by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in 1986, WIA has processed hundreds of thousands of applications for wireless radio licenses and coordinated more of the nation’s spectrum than virtually any other coordinating committee.

WIA offers end-to-end electronic processing without requiring the customer to be a member of the association. Using WIA’s web-based License*Link system, WIA’s customers are able to operate in an efficient, paperless environment.

Representatives from WIA will be at the International Wireless Communications Expo (IWCE) March 27-31 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, NV. The IWCE is the premier event for communications technology, and brings together thousands of industry professionals for workshops, panel discussions and keynotes.
