WIA Statement on FCC Announcement of Auctioning 160 MHz of Upper C-Band Spectrum

The Wireless Infrastructure Association released the following statement on the FCC’s announcement of auctioning 160 MHz of Upper C-Band Spectrum. The following can be attributed to Patrick Halley, President and CEO, WIA:

“Spectrum is the invisible infrastructure that allows Americans to experience the magic of broadband on-the-go.  WIA applauds Chairman Carr’s announcement that the Commission will soon take the next step in bringing more commercial wireless spectrum to market, consistent with Congress’ direction in the Working Families Tax Cut Act.  The recent success of Auction 113 shows that industry, and consumers, are hungry for more spectrum to power our modern connected lives.

“WIA is also pleased that the Commission is going beyond the minimum directed by Congress to make 160 MHz of prime midband spectrum available and harmonizing operational rules across the C-Band, unlocking new economies of scale and creating more value from this scarce resource.  WIA and its members look forward to working with the Commission—and stakeholders at the FAA—to rapidly put this spectrum to work for all Americans.”
