WIA Statement on the FCC’s Broadband Deployment Advisory Committee Meeting

July 27, 2018

The Wireless Infrastructure Association (WIA) issued the following statement from President and CEO Jonathan Adelstein regarding the recent meeting of the FCC’s Broadband Deployment Advisory Committee.

“I commend the members of the Broadband Deployment Advisory Committee (BDAC) for their focus, determination, and compromise through months of detailed work resulting in the finalization of the Municipal Model Code. While the State Model Code and the Rates and Fees Report will continue to be discussed, I have faith that they will be finalized soon so that states will have a framework for 5G rollout. We look forward to working with the FCC as it considers BDAC’s recommendations. I also support Chairman Pai’s desire, announced this morning, to have BDAC focus on infrastructure resiliency. Wireless infrastructure has performed admirably during previous hurricane seasons, and I appreciate the opportunity to share some of the industry’s lessons learned.”
