WIA Supports Passage of IMPACT Act

Statement from WIA President and CEO Jonathan Adelstein on Senate Commerce Committee passage of the IMPACT ACT as part of Endless Frontiers Act:

“WIA is thrilled that the Improving Minority Participants and Careers in Telecommunications Act (IMPACT Act) is included in the Endless Frontiers Act, which passed the Senate Commerce Committee this afternoon. The IMPACT Act, sponsored by Senators Wicker, Sinema, and Tim Scott, will provide opportunities for underrepresented Americans to learn skills that will lead to employment in the booming telecommunications industry. We are especially pleased that the bill recognizes the contributions of Telecommunications Industry Registered Apprenticeship Program, a Department of Labor registered apprenticeship program, to ensuring safety and quality in deploying world-class wireless networks. As we build the wireless workforce of the future, the IMPACT Act will help to ensure inclusivity and diversity, while also helping to meet demand for skilled telecommunications workers. WIA thanks Senators Wicker, Sinema, and Scott for their leadership on this timely issue.”
