WIA Applauds Geoffrey Starks’ Testimony Before Congress

The Wireless Infrastructure Association (WIA) issued the following statement from President and CEO Jonathan Adelstein regarding Geoffrey Starks’ nomination to a seat on the Federal Communications Commission.

“Geoffrey Starks’ testimony before the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation showed him to be a knowledgeable nominee who understands the vital role wireless infrastructure will play in the deployment of 5G technology. WIA shares his belief in the importance of 5G to the U.S. economy and the need to maintain America’s leadership role in wireless innovation. In addition, Mr. Starks spoke of the need for the FCC to use its convening power to bring the right stakeholders to the table to help expedite 5G deployment.  He also emphasized the need for more spectrum and the need to have modern cell-siting procedures in place.”

“WIA strongly supports Mr. Starks’ nomination and I encourage the Senate Commerce Committee to confirm him. We look forward to working with the full complement of commissioners as the industry continues to deploy the essential wireless networks that expand wireless broadband everywhere.”
