Wireless Infrastructure Association Launches New Telecommunications Workforce Center as One-Stop Shop for Industry Training and Apprenticeship Resources

ARLINGTON, Va. – The Wireless Infrastructure Association (WIA) today announced the launch of a new Telecommunications Workforce Center (TWC), which acts as a central hub for training and apprenticeship resources in the telecom industry. TWC includes enhanced online access to the Telecommunications Education Center (TEC)’s catalog of over 30 cutting-edge courses through a new Learning Management System (LMS). As TWC rolls out in 2022, it will also incorporate expanded resources, including apprentice tracking capabilities to allow employers to track the learning progress of their trainees in the Telecommunications Industry Registered Apprenticeship Program (TIRAP).

“I am extremely pleased to announce the launch of our Telecommunications Workforce Center,” said WIA EVP Tim House. “As the National Sponsor of TIRAP, the first and premier registered apprenticeship program in the industry, and the provider of industry-leading training and education through TEC, we are bringing these invaluable apprenticeship and training resources together in a single, user-friendly, hub.

“It is a well-known fact that our industry is experiencing a shortage of skilled workers to meet the demands of the country’s evolving networks. TWC is designed to help alleviate this problem by streamlining access to training resources crucial to the development, retention, and safety of a highly skilled telecom workforce.”

Included in the launch of TWC is a new LMS that will enhance training and education in the industry by allowing employers and education partners to efficiently track the progress of course participants. Through an online profile, students will be able to conduct coursework and earn certificates of completion to verify their credentials.

TWC provides employers access to a range of critical courses designed by subject matter and industry experts, with options for course delivery that include e-learning, instructor-led classroom learning, and instructor-led virtual learning.

All course packages can be found on the online catalog.
