International Women’s Day: A Personal Reflection from WWLF President Victoria Weidenthaler

As we celebrate International Women’s Day this year, I’m reminded of how powerful our community of women in wireless truly is. In my roles as Corporate Counsel II and President of the Women’s Wireless Leadership Forum, I’m fortunate to see firsthand the resilience, brilliance, and leadership that women bring to every corner of the telecom industry.

Every day, I watch women navigate complex legal, technical, and operational challenges with strength, and today, we pause to honor it. From the engineers designing the networks of tomorrow to the policy leaders shaping the regulatory pathways that keep our industry moving, women are not just contributing to telecom — they’re transforming it.

At WWLF, our mission has always been simple: to lift each other higher and keep women connected. Whether through mentorship, leadership development, or the connections that sustain us in challenging moments, our community continues to prove that inclusion isn’t just an initiative, it’s a force multiplier for the entire industry.

As we help to build the pipeline of future telecommunications leaders through our Telecom Trailblazers initiative, we are inspired by the women who paved the way — and those who will follow. In 2025, we proudly welcomed more than 250 middle and high school students, the majority of whom were girls. Many of these young women are already exploring fields such as cybersecurity, robotics, environmental science, and computer programming. Through their involvement in Telecom Trailblazers, they not only deepen their academic foundations but also develop essential soft skills that will support their long‑term success.

In 2026, we will expand our reach to nearly 400 female students across the country. By partnering with telecommunications organizations and industry leaders, we will provide these students with meaningful exposure to key areas including infrastructure policy, engineering, cybersecurity, AI, spectrum management, broadband, and emerging technologies. Together, we are helping to shape a more inclusive and innovative future for the telecom industry.

This International Women’s Day, I’m inspired by the women who came before us, motivated by the leaders around us, and deeply committed to opening even more doors for the women who will follow. There is still much work ahead, but if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that women in wireless don’t just keep pace with change — we lead it!
