Support for Hurricane Fiona Recovery in Puerto Rico

Our thoughts are with the residents of Puerto Rico as many remain without power days after Hurricane Fiona struck the island.

WIA is proud to represent member companies who are working overtime to restore communications to parts of the island without power—and we thank the brave men and women on the ground for their service.

As another storm, Hurricane Ian, approaches Florida, our thoughts are also with the residents, first responders, and communications workers preparing for that storm to make landfall.

If you would like to support the Hurricane Fiona recovery effort in Puerto Rico, below is a list of local and international charities dedicated to providing disaster relief and aid to the island’s residents.

  • ViequesLove – ViequesLove began as an initiative to support the island through GoFundMe.com on September 20, 2017, the day Hurricane Maria struck the island. Since its founding, ViequesLove has become a trusted umbrella organization cooperating and coordinating with other NGOs and government entities.
  • COREFI – COREFI has been recognized by the Internal Revenue Service to be a charitable organization described by section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Tax Code. COREFI provides direct services to disadvantaged and underserved communities in Vieques, Puerto Rico. Established in 2008 as a response to the overwhelming amount of neglected residents, the group has been working hard to provide solutions to Puerto Rico’s most underserved citizens.
  • Jovenes de Puerto Rico – Youth of Puerto Rico (JPRR) is a non-profit organization that since 1996 has distinguished itself by developing an effective prevention model aimed at youth between the ages of 13 and 17 at high risk of interrupting their studies and getting involved in criminal activities. It is a pioneer in offering one-on-one mentoring in order for young people to gain control over their lives and develop personal and social skills.
